How to Choose the Best LCD Televisions

Choosing the best LCD televisions to buy is not as hard as it seems. You have to know a little about the various types of televisions that are on the market. At first all this seems confusing, but it's really not. Hopefully this article will help you choose the best LCD televisions for you and your budget.

The first thing you want to do is to make sure you're getting the right technology. Plasma used to be tops over LCD, but with advances in technology, that's changed. Now, they can make LCD televisions that have blacks that are just as rich as plasma televisions. Also, LCD televisions can be as large as plasma televisions.

Once you make sure that it's really an LCD television you want, you need to pick out the right model and make for your budget and purposes.

Probably the first thing you need to think about is size. Many if not most of the televsions on the market now are high-definition. If their resolution is 720 or 1080p, then they're definitely high-definition. Although you can sit closer to an LCD television, especially an hd LCD television, you still don't want to get one that's too big. For instance, a 50-inch television would overwhelm a normal sized bedroom.

Next, you need to figure out what manufacturer's set you want to buy. The best LCD televisions are sold by Vizio, Sony, Sharp, Samsung, Philips, LG, and now Toshiba. Certainly there are others who make great sets, but these represent the majority of the market.

Cost is probably a factor, too! You can buy a 32-inch hd LCD television for $600 to $800. If you want a bigger television, you're going to either have to buy a smaller television or you're going to have to go for less resolution. Personally, I would go for the smaller screen before I went for the lower resolution. The higher the resolution, the better the picture looks, which means that you can get away with a smaller screen.

Other considerations for buying the best LCD televisions are what types of devices are you going to use with your LCD tv. Also, you'll want an HDMI input, which insures that your signal is all digital, thus avoiding degradation of the signal as it passes through other components, such as the converter box.

According to who you buy the television through, you'll want to look into the manufacturer's warranty. You probably wouldn't have a problem through a reputable online seller like Amazon, but if you're buying your set through someone that's not an authorized dealer, the manufacturer's warranty might be null and void. Find out about this.

Finding the best LCD televisions is not hard. All it takes is a little leg work. Of course, being online makes that job really, really easy.

Important Tips About LCD Televisions

Liquid crystal display television is now considered as the best option when it comes to flat panel category. Well known for energy efficiency, it is the hot favorite product of the consumers. When compared with other types of televisions, LCD generates lesser heat even if used for prolonged hours. These two factors make it environment friendly television, the core characteristic that attracts the attention of modern consumers. In the recent past LCD television technology was subjected to many up gradations to make it free from few minor aberrations it suffered in the early stages of its introduction in the markets.

At the outset, there is a general perception that LCD television is an expensive product especially when compared with the conventional CRT. But considering the qualitative advantages it offers, the consumers will be convinced that they have opted for a bargain. The cost of this television of 23 to 40 inches sizes is much lower than other flat panel televisions of same sizes. Further it is well known that LCD is a better choice when it comes to small screens. With the innovative natural light technology, its dynamic contrast ratio has been brought to 50,000:1. LCD television with HDMI input can offer superb digital display. It can also offer high definition audio and video output. Some models come with picture in picture feature which enables the viewer to watch two programmes simultaneously.

One of the advantages of this television is that it has no burn-in problem like its counterpart plasma. The early models of LCD had problems with viewing angles. But modern products offer 176 deg. viewing angles. Many of the LCD comes with VGA input making it capable to be a computer monitor. It is also free from altitude problems and can be used in hill stations etc without hassles. Enhanced response time and refresh rates in the LCD make it free from motion blur. LCD TVs will have no problems from ambient lighting and offer superior display irrespective of surrounding conditions. It can offer high definition output with superb color saturation.

Television market is functioning in a highly competitive environment. Well known manufacturers like Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Toshiba, Sony and Philips are among several leaders who offer innovative LCD televisions. Some of the latest ones have automatic light adjustments to match ambient lighting. Another feature incorporated in this television is the Dolby technology which will balance the volume of sound while maintaining Bass and Treble. Built-in USB port and SD card slot are provided in all LCD products. As for response time latest LCD models have 4 milliseconds, a feature which enhances the quality of display.

Periodical up gradations of technology, as mentioned earlier has helped LCD technology to eliminate almost all the inherent anomalies existed in the early models. Recent market surveys reveal that the demands for LCD are growing by 12 percent every year in the global market. The recent development of LED backlighting in this LCD TV is poised to give boost to the popularity of the products. The new technique is now being progressively implemented in several brands and models and it is expected that in another 5 years at least 25 per cent of LCD TVs will have LED back lighting feature. Even though this new feature will make the television a bit more expensive, the quality conscious consumer world will no doubt accept it without reservations.

LCD Televisions – An Overview

So, you've decided to finally ditch your aging, bulky TV set, and upgrade to a flat screen TV. You have money to spend, you've decided that the risk of burn-in on a plasma screen is not for you, and so you've opted for LCD. However, with so many LCD televisions on the market, which one do you choose? What do you need to look out for, and what should you avoid? Which manufacturers are better than others? So many questions, but don't panic. We have some of the answers right here.

When scouring the web or browsing in your local store for LCD televisions, you'll notice that models are categorised by one of the following: 480i, 720p, 1080i and so forth. What does this mean?

Firstly, the number relates to the resolution of the screen. The higher the number, the more detailed the picture - and more often than not, the more expensive the set! A resolution of 480 is now fairly uncommon, with most televisions coming in at 720 or 1080. Although 720 offers a perfectly reasonable picture, and can often come in high definition, a 1080 display is infinitely superior. With more and more media companies leaping on the HD bandwagon, LCD televisions with a resolution of 1080 are an investment for the future as well as the present.

Secondly, the letter - either 'i' or 'p'- relates to the image scanning method, or in laymen's terms, how the screen displays the image. The 'i' here stands for interlaced, where the screen draws lines alternately. A 'p' indicates progressive scan, which is the better of the two: image lines are drawn in sequence, which is quicker, meaning that you get a better picture quality.

A number of LCD televisions also come with special features, which can be confusing if you're not all that technically minded. A stretch and zoom function removes the black stripes on the top, bottom and sides of a picture that don't fit the screen - useful if the television is a widescreen, and the programme or film you're watching isn't broadcast in this format. 'Film mode' is handy if you like watching old movies, as it compensates for the slower frame rate used in older recordings, and greatly improves the picture.

Manufacturers to look out for include many of the usual suspects - Sony, LG, Sharp and Panasonic. Companies like Vizio are relatively unknown but don't let that put you off, they also offer top quality LCD televisions for a reasonable price. In the slightly cheaper bracket, sets from the likes of Toshiba and Samsung may not be quite as accomplished as their more expensive cousins, and often come with fewer special features. However, if you're either shopping on a budget, or want to get the largest screen possible for the money that you do have, both are worth looking at. Almost all manufacturers offer standard one or two year warranty on purchase, so whoever you choose, you'll be in safe hands.

LCD Televisions – Things You Need to Know Before You Buy

So what should you know before you make your new purchase? Here are some helpful tips to hopefully make your preliminary decisions a little easier.

Size

LCD TV's are available in such a vast array of sizes. You can purchase as small as 10", and then move up the range from 32", 37", 42", all the way up to 108". The decision can be difficult with so many options, however, begin by considering the viewing distance from the prospective television. How far away do you plan on sitting from your new LCD TV? Obviously, you do not want to buy the 52" TV if you are only 4 feet away. Optimally, for LCD TV's of 42", plan to be about 10 feet away, where as an LCD TV of over 60" should be viewed at over 15 feet away. In sum, do not get in over your head and buy a large TV without having the proper space to view it.

Resolution

Resolution may be expressed as 720p, 1080p, 1080i, 1024x768, etc. These numbers represent the vertical and horizontal lines that make up the picture quality on the screen. The most advanced and future-ready resolution is 1080p, which stands for 1080 pixels (or vertical lines) with progressive scanning. This is better than 1080i, as the "i" represents "interlaced". Interlaced simply uses the previous technology of updating a picture every other line beginning with the odd numbered pixels, and then the even. Progressive scanning is constantly refreshing every pixel all of the time.

Refresh Rate

In addition to either progressive or interlaced scanning, companies such as Samsung, Panasonic, and Sony offer multiple speeds in which those pixels are refreshed. With a higher refresh rate, comes better clarity, less interruption of high action scenes. The most common refresh rate is between 60-120 Hz, however, 200 Hz has reached some markets. Smaller TV's may not show much difference with higher resolution and refresh rates, but on the contrary, larger TV's demonstrate rather big differences.

Contrast Ratio

Contrast Ratio is described in terms of 700:1, or 25,000:1. It is simply a ratio of how many steps it takes in shades of gray to go from black to white and back again. Some brands offer what they call "Dynamic Contrast Ratio" in which is not a true description of the TV's color capabilities. With a dynamic contrast ratio TV, it will lower the back light in darker scenes to darken pictures. In short, an LCD television with a higher contrast ratio will be able to deliver greater color and picture quality.

Overall, when deciding on a TV, begin with determining the size that meets the needs of the viewing room. From there, you can decide on the importance of the resolution, refresh rate, and contrast ratio.

Most Popular LCD Televisions

LCD televisions have been taking the world by storm it seems, as the technology continues to improve and the prices continue to drop. Originally, for TVs of a mid to larger size, it seemed that plasma televisions were automatically better. They had better quality and better sustainability. However, the most popular LCD televisions have caught up to the lead and are now just as good if not better than plasmas, no matter the size of the screen that you are interested in.

How do LCD Televisions work?

Before you view specific LCD television reviews it's always a good idea to have a basic understanding of what the technology behind LCD televisions actually is. LCD screens function through liquid crystal cells in between panels of glass. Electric currents are supplied to these liquid crystal cells (LCD stands for liquid crystal display) which in turn cause each individual cell to refract only a certain specific color in the visible light spectrum. The light is being fed to the cells through a lamp behind the screen in the case of a flat screen LCD television. When thousands of these liquid crystal cells refract their specific color at the same time, you get fantastic, bright pictures.

Advantages of the Most Popular LCD Televisions

The most popular LCD televisions actually have several advantages over their plasma (or older LCD model) counterparts. To begin with, LCD screens are great for well lit environments. So if you're in a room with lots of sun, or plan on having a television in a public atmosphere such as a brightly lit restaurant, than LCD screens will provide a more viewable picture image than other types of TV screens.

LCD televisions also consume less power than other types of TVs. So for those of you trying to "go green", or at least cut back on your monthly bills, LCDs offer that distinct advantage. Additionally, with LCD TVs you don't have to worry at all about the dreaded "screen burn in" which has been known to ruin other types of TV sets. While that is a concern that is largely being taken care of through improvements in technology anyway, you never have to even consider such as problem with the most popular LCD televisions.

LCD Television Reviews

You no longer have to worry that LCD televisions aren't suited to large sizes. Thanks to improvements in technology, the most popular LCD TVs function just as wonderfully as other HD televisions, no matter the size of the screen. Many companies make various models of LCD TVs, but according to LCD television reviews, some of the best are:

o The Sony Bravia LCD TV - Great picture and sound, smooth video play and all around high quality.

o Sharp AQUOS LCD TV - Sharp AQUOS models are known for their extraordinarily thin design and their outstanding picture quality and contrast ratio.

o Samsung LN-40A650 LCD HDTV - This Samsung model is great not just for the sharpness of its picture but also for the adaptability to other media players and outlets, such as MP3 players.

Of course, this is just a small sampling of some of the most popular LCD televisions. You can find more information about some of the most popular LCD televisions. Additionally, you can find LCD television reviews and you can even buy LCD televisions.

Review of the LG 42LH2000 LCD Television

Sony sit proudly at the top of the tree, their catalogue boasting some of most expensive high-end LCD televisions available, whereas the likes of Hanns-G and Goodmans almost exclusively target budget consumers. The middle ground is home to a truck load of companies all vying for your attention, including the likes of Panasonic, and Korean manufacturers Samsung and LG.

LG are well known for producing great looking LCD televisions that have a bite to equal their bark. In 2009, they unveiled the LH line, which replaced their 'Scarlet' range. LH models extend from the high-end LH7000, down to the low-priced LH2000, which quickly became recognised as one of the best budget televisions on the market. Available in screen sizes of 19 to 42 inches, the LH2000 offers more bang for your buck than almost any other comparably-priced unit. On top of that, they are also some of the most eco-friendly LCD televisions available, allowing consumers to enjoy the latest home entertainment with a clear conscience.

The largest unit in the range, the 42 inch widescreen LH2000, is available at under ?550, which is an unbelievably low price for such a large TV. Featuring a Dynamic Contrast ratio of 30,000:1, Clear Voice technology and excellent connectivity, it's a match for many more expensive LCD televisions that are supposedly better in quality. It also uses very little power, and beats the 40 inch WE5 for energy efficiency - a television marketed by Sony as an 'Eco TV'. LG have not sacrificed looks for performance either, and the 42LH2000 is just as attractive a unit as their more expensive models. It may be relatively cheap, but it certainly doesn't look it.

LG really do go from strength to strength with every new model they produce. Since the company renamed itself in the mid-nineties, they have come out all guns blazing in an attempt to corner a piece of the Western consumer electronics market. And as evidenced by the LG 42LH2000 Television, they're doing a pretty good job of it. LG have come up with some real bargains over the years, and this is definitely one of them.

Technology Advancement of LCD Television

The cathode ray tube (CRT) television became the popular choice in the yesteryear's mainly because of its low cost. The technology is based on vacuum tube and beam of electrons which produces images. But despite the cost advantage consumers found two main drawbacks in the product. It is bulky and will occupy more space. Enormous power consumption is another handicap. Liquid crystal display television on the other hand is a thin and sleek product and it is energy efficient.

The flat panel television offered super picture quality. The technology is different from that of CRT. It involves pixels filled with liquid crystals which are suitably arranged with fluorescent backlighting to regulate the display. Because of the qualitative superiority it commands, LCD became the most favourite choice of the consumers. CRT models are being replaced by new LCD versions. But after 1964 another flat panel television reached the markets challenging the upsurge of LCD. Unlike CRT, plasma could effectively challenge the LCD due to the equally superb display as well as certain other characteristics.

It is quite natural that when two equally popular products enter the markets, consumers compare both in terms of quality and price. In a bitter competition to capture substantial market share LCD has an edge over plasma due to various reasons. LCD televisions are available in small sizes which suit the consumers with shoestring budgets. It starts from10 inches and above and LCD technology is acknowledged as the best when it comes to small size screens. Plasma screens suffer from burn-in problems causing negative impacts on its market fortunes and thereby benefiting LCD. The lifespan of LCD television is much longer than other types. As already mentioned energy efficiency is a major positive factor that contributed to the popularity of LCD. Further it is considered as the best option in high altitude stations.

Some of the latest products in the market are capable of proving the superiority of LCD television. Philips 46PFL9704H/12 is an HD-Ready LCD television with LED (Light Emitting Diode) backlighting, which enhances its contrast ratio to 5000000:1. The display resolution is 1920 x 1080p which is an absolute requirement of high definition display.

Innovative technologies have helped this product to maintain superior brightness as well as best sound quality. Samsung also have introduced their new product LE32B652 LCD TV with a superb 100Hz frame rate eliminating motion blurs. Featured with 4HDMI and USB 2.0 port, this is also a DLNA certified product. Sony Bravia KDL-32E5520 is another HD-Ready LCD television equipped with 4HDMI connectivity and 100Hz frame rate. This also featured 1920 x 1080p resolution with contrast ratio of 80000:1. Apart from the above products Panasonic, LG, Toshiba and Sharp have also their masterpieces in the market. The modern LCD televisions are well known for their superiority in respect of black levels, Colour saturation, brightness, response time and viewing angle. No doubt they have superiority in their technical aspects and aesthetic designs.

Consumers have to decide about the size of the television as well as other specifics before shopping for them. Budget is very important issue because LCD television is an expensive device. There are special websites dealing with LCD televisions. It is better to visit such websites to gather valuable information about many a branded product available in the markets. Even though the technology adopted in the LCD television is identical, each brand will have certain unique features. Knowing about such special features and their benefits can be handy for the shoppers in choosing the right product.

Read exclusive reviews, articles, news on top selling LCD televisions and also compare LCD TV prices, special offers and discounts at LCD TV reviews website.

The Best LCD Television – Like It Is LIVE

Television is one of the best things that were ever invented.? In fact, some are so addicted that they spend more time in front of their television than doing something more important.? But what can we do?? Television is one of the best help we can get to escape the real world.? We laugh, we cry, we are amazed, we wonder, get scared, we are angered and we actually feel all kinds of emotions.

Over time, televisions have evolved.? From the classic black and white TV now we have the latest LCD televisions.? Derived from the Greek word tele (far) and Latin word visio (sight), we just love John Logie Baird, Philo Farnsworth and Vladimir Zworykin for inventing this amazing thing.? But through this evolution, we can now have the best viewing experience.? The best LCD television is easy to find in the market.? We have a wide range of selections that we can choose from.? Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, Sharp, JVC, you name it.

It is quite difficult to say which of these brands is the best LCD television.? Everybody has been saying they are the best.? But among these brands of LCD, experts are near unanimous favorable to the 52-inch Samsung LN52A650.? Many people claimed that it produces one of the best pictures compared to any LCD TV.? It has impressive black levels, good shadow detail and colors are very accurate.? The TV is packed with features like image processing, InfoLink feature that gathers news, weather, sports and other information from the internet.? The TV's screen is much shinier than others thus helps improve picture quality, but is prone to reflections from room lightings.? I guess everything has a drawback.? It is also said that viewing angle is shallower than other LCD TV sets and the remote can be awkward to use.

Next to this great creation is the 47-inch LG 47LG60.? Nicknamed "Scarlet" by the maker, it also has accurate colors and near perfect grayscale.? Outstanding HD and SD material for image processing is a strong plus.? It has lots of picture controls that will keep viewers busy for a while, and it has distinctive style.? However, this next best LCD television's black levels are poorer than other high-end televisions and its distinctive style may not be as appealing to others.

But as for me, as long as it can show me what the director wants me to see, and let me hear what the script writer wants me to hear, it's perfect.? Who needs the most expensive televisions when the plot is still the same no matter what television we are using?

The Best LCD Televisions

The short story is that Samsung has emerged as the quality leader. The other part of the story is that LCD is winning the market share over plasma. Many consumer reviews heavily favor Samsung. Here is how I came to the same conclusion.

Facial Recognition

Faces have many subtle changes in color. They are also a constant focal point for television viewing. When we tested models, we put them side by side and compared the faces. The better television sets would make the faces look more natural with less unreal shading. Samsung was the best, but Sony was very close to Samsung quality. In fact, it was sometimes hard to tell which one was better. Other brands, such as Vizio and Phillips, were obviously not as good.

Commercial and Outdoor LCD Televisions

The ultimate LCD television quality is that of the commercial and outdoor models.

Outdoor and commercial displays have much brighter colors and higher contrast ratios. They can withstand higher heat and are made to run 24/7. The components are a higher grade. They have more features. For example, the average LCD television will only have a DVD player hooked up to it and that means it only needs RCA ports. However, commercial and outdoor models have PC inputs, serial ports, RS-232 (sometimes), Legacy and VGA inputs as well as the traditional RCA and cable inputs. PC inputs are "huge"!! It means you can use your display like a computer monitor. You can easily download movies, search the internet, and get USB television (instead of cable). The other thing I like is to set up my screensaver and be able to see beautiful landscapes. Of course, this only works with the commercial models.

Pricing

Like most anything it costs almost twice as much to build real quality. As you might have guessed, you can expect to pay about twice as much money for a commercial grade or outdoor LCD television.

What to Expect

Most people plan on spending around a thousand dollars for a new LCD television. You can save quite a bit by going with a brand like Vizio. Vizio has a big share of the lower end market while Samsung and Sony dominate the upper market. The "sweet spot" (most screen for the money) is the forty two inch size.

If you have the bucks, consider a commercial grade or outdoor display. They will last longer, but more importantly, allow you to network and communicate to them with a computer. Wouldn't it be nice to have an outdoor television for the back patio?

LCD televisions of today are truly awesome. For further information, please visit lcd tv stands or another favorite site Outdoor Showers
